What is Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

If you have healthy gums and the wisdom teeth are well-aligned then you do not have to get them removed. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen. Most people face dental problems when their wisdom teeth don’t have enough space to grow hence, they usually

  1. Grow sideways
  2. Partially emerge from the gum
  3. Remain trapped below the gum and the bone.
So, the impacted teeth erupt successfully taking different positions in the bone. The poorly positioned impacted teeth can cause many problems and hence one needs to undergo wisdom tooth extraction. It is a surgical procedure to remove one or more wisdom teeth that help to relieve you from severe pain and infection.

Our Procedure:

Wisdom tooth extraction is just like an outpatient surgery. You can go home on the same day. Before the surgery, our dentists will give you instructions following that will help smoothen the procedure. So, here is how we carry out wisdom tooth extraction:

  1. Before giving anesthesia, our dentist will apply a substance to your gums to make them numb so that you don’t experience pain during the procedure.
  2. After making the site numb, our dentist will then make an incision in the gum tissue so that the tooth and bone are exposed.
  3. The next step is the removal of bone that obstructs access to the tooth root.
  4. Once the bone is removed, next our dentist will divide the tooth into two sections to easily remove it in pieces.
  5. Next is the main part- The removal of the tooth.
  6. After removing the tooth, they clean the impacted area for any debris of the tooth or bone.
  7. After cleaning next they close the wound with dissolvable stitches to help it heal. Stitches are not compulsory but it completely depends on the severity and complexity of the impacted wisdom tooth.
  8. After closing the wound, our dentist will place gauze on it to control bleeding and to help a blood clot.
